The XL-10M is a powerhouse that’s equipped with super-efficient MOSFET transistors, high-frequency output, and microprocessor control. The real-world continuous current rating is 30 amps. Peak current is 150 amps. It wasn’t that long ago that an electronic speed control with this kind of muscle was at the top end of the scale and required big, big bucks to own. Now, it’s standard issue in the Villain RTR.
In addition to raw power output, a couple of additional benefits you get with the XL-10M are proportional throttle control, easy set up, customizable profiles, and thermal shutdown protection. The XL-10’s high frequency output allows for the smoothest transition from a crawl to full speed, or anywhere in between. With the XL-10M, the Villain makes dockside maneuvers with extreme precision. The XL-10M uses a single button and a 2-color LED for all of it's setup and programming functions. The XL-10 comes preset at the factory, but if for some reason the settings are lost, programming is a snap. Out-of-the-box, Villain is configured to provide 100% forward speed and 25% reverse speed. Slow-speed reverse is there to allow for maneuvering in tight quarters. Two additional profiles are provided for full-speed reverse or disabling reverse completely. The XL-10M helps prevent runaways by maintaining steering and throttle control even when the main battery is almost completely dead. It’s a great safety feature you don’t want to be without. Note: the XL-10M speed control does not feature Low Voltage Detection and is not compatible with LiPo batteries.
