NAPOLEON CANNON WITH LIMBER Two 1:16 Scale Wood & Metal Model Kits
BRIEF HISTORIES Napoleon Cannon, U.S. Civil War Model 1857 Developed for Emperor Napoleon III in the 1850s, this smoothbore 12-pounder was easily maneuverable, yet capable of destroying field fortifications almost a mile away. It became the most popular gun of the American Civil War. The Confederacy had over 600 of them, and the Union Army counted more than 1,000 in its arsenal. Limber Ammunition Wagon The limber was a simple two-wheeled cart designed to carry an ammunition chest containing gunpowder and shot for the artillery pieces. The cannon was hooked to the rear of the limber, and a team of horses pulled both pieces when the army was on the move. In times of battle, the limber and horses were left behind the lines of fire.
