This “Dare Design” Lancaster was designed as the Mk-I variant, (can be modified by the builder to any of the later variants). The model is of our open structure style of design to keep the weight down so it can be flown using low cost Outrunner motors, a single battery pack, and still achieve flight durations in excess of 10 minutes.
The Avro Lancaster was the front line British heavy bomber in WW-II. Powered by 4-Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the Lancaster could carry bomb loads up to 22,000 lb. With its 102-foot wingspan, the Lancaster was comparable in size with the American B-17, but was capable of carrying the largest payload of any bomber of that era. With a crew of 6, it was armed with six Browning .303 machine guns
Set up for 5 ch. R/C, the model features the basic flight controls plus functional wing flaps.
