When William Piper and C.G. Taylor broke up their partnership in 1935, Mr. Taylor set out to design a new lightplane that corrected several faults he had noticed in several previous models. He succeeded so well in his new endeavor that today the Taylorcraft BC-12 still stands as an icon in the light plane field. A carefully contoured fuselage that cloistered two people side-by-side and narrowed behind them diminished contemporaries.. With the Continental A-65 engine, here was a light plane that was 25 mph faster than the competition with the same engine. Such efficiency is still remembered today. Dare's model reflects the same characteristics as the full-scale airplane, and the designer had spectacular results with the design.
